The Independent Writes about mtvU contest
Kyle - 4/25/08 5:44 AM
The Independent ran a story this week comparing and contrasting Inflowential with the other bands still in the top 3 of mtvU's Battle of the Bands.
They described us as "Organic, Optimistic, Clever". They also said: "Inflow is the only act doing something different."
As a band we take pride in our originality so it felt good to read that. The Independent also gives us 2:1 chance of a victory in the competition.

1st place in mtvU Battle of the Bands!!!
Kyle - 4/11/08 5:32 PM
Since being named a 1st place winner of the 2008 mtvU and Palm Centro Battle of the Bands, we've all been on cloud nine!!! That hasn't stopped us from spreading the word about the competition and the last round of voting. A few news sources have also caught on to the movement and have wrote some very kind words.
The Independent wrote about the competition again saying:
"Congrats to local hip-hop crew Inflowential for taking first place in mtvU and Palm Centro at AT&T Battle of the Bands contest (that’s a mouthful). They’ll be opening for Wyclef Jean and a host of others at one of the Campus Invasion Music Festival dates in Boston, Philly or College Park, Maryland. Inflow will now compete with the other two first place winners for the opportunity to host an episode of mtvU’s Dean’s List and some free Palm Centro phones. Oh yeah, and 10 grand. Vote here to help them out."
You can read the rest of the article here:

Also to join in and write about the movement was WRAL, Raleigh's biggest news channel:
"Raleigh hip-hop band Inflowential has made it to the final three in MTVu’s “Best Music on Campus” competition. Making it to the final three means the group will be performing a show May 4th at UMASS in Boston with Wycelf Jean. Voting continues in the contest over the next month with the winner of the contest receiving $10,000.
Inflowential formed in the Spring of 2003 at NC State University. They are currently in the studio recording their first full-length album slated for a Fall '08 release."

mtvu on campus and in the independent weekly
Kyle - 4/4/08 3:44 PM
The Independent, North Carolina's top music and arts news publication, mentioned us in this week's "Guide to the week's concerts".
"Inflow hasn't played its hometown in months, but the group has been steadily building a buzz that has made them Raleigh's preeminent hip-hop crew and (inexplicably) N.C.'s only representative in a nationwide mtvU contest. It's deserved: The group's clever rhymes run the gamut from Ron Burgundy references to the disparity between rich and poor. Welcome back."
On the campus front, Wolf Bytes the NC State TV station that broadcasts to every cable tv connection across the campus, is broad casting a public service announcement telling people to vote for Inflowential in the competition!
We've gotta go hand out flyers now... Vote for Inflowential!!!
VOTE FOR INFLOWENTIAL!!!!
Kyle - 4/4/08 3:04 PM
Needless to say, we've been everywhere the past two weeks trying to spread the word about the mtvU Battle of the Bands competition and to get people to vote for us. We compiled a little video clip of our adventures along the way. Check it out here:

David Menconi, the music critic for The News & Observer, one of North Carolina's biggest news publications, mentioned us in an entry to his music blog "On the Beat" on April 1st. Hip-Hoppers Inflowential Win Over A Crowd Of Newbies In NC
September 20, 2007 - The Soapbox, Wilmington, NC
Posted by Ryankawamoto (from yourhere.mtv.com), Wrightsville Beach, NC, at 2:22 pm EST on Friday, September 21st, 2007
Last night was my first time seeing Raleigh, North Carolina’s Inflowential, and I had only heard good things about these guys, who turned out to be the most unique band I have ever heard or seen. They have beats and a hip-hop style similar to the Roots and are made up of two MCs, a guitarist, a bassist and an extraordinary beat-boxer in place of drums.
The Soapbox is a very small venue, and these guys had everyone in the place jamming and dancing. I was shocked when they asked the audience members if it was their first time seeing Inflowential and over three-fourths of the people raised their hands. I have never seen so many people absolutely love a band after seeing them for the first time!
From the very first beat people began bobbing their heads and were immediately hooked. Inflowential’s sound, lyrics and flows are so addicting that even when I woke up this morning I was humming their tune “Change.”

Inflow Joins the International Beatbox Association!
Adam - 1/25/08 11:54 PM
Inflow is now a member of the IBA alongside the world's best beatbox talents including Rahzel, Scratch, and Kenny Muhammed! Check out what they had to say about Inflow:
"Truly dope tracks! A lot of music flows through our offices, but it's rare that we come across a beatboxer or group that everyone loves, let alone a group with a beatboxer that everyone loves!"
