Welcome To the Honest Iago Music Collective

Bio

Honest Iago formed in 2004, and have deliberately maintained a rotating membership since their inception. Its members, who often prefer to remain anonymous (“often” meaning except for shows, so that listeners focus on the music, not their personalities), invite others to join them for concerts, so that the sound is constantly changing, never giving audiences the same show twice.

Each song centers on a character and his or her story as seen through the eyes of Iago, our narrator (taken from Shakespeare’s Othello). In the baroque/classical tradition, piano and strings are prevalent, giving the songs, which are punk tracks at heart, a unique texture and widely palatable flavor.

These separate stories, when completed in entirety, will combine to create the world Iago inhabits, a mirror of our own. Members have participated from far and wide, one contributing piano tracks from Las Vegas, another mailing electronic beats from Paris, yet Southern California will always be thought of as home to the three mainstays, as many lyrical references to Los Angeles and San Diego make clear.

Please enjoy the track posted, and help garner some attention for Honest Iago, who are bringing something original and colorful to a monotone rock world, and hopefully blurring the lines between popular and “serious” music.

Take action!

Nick - 2/2/07 4:09 AM

As you can probably tell from the music on our page, we have taken an activist stance on some of today's more important issues. As artists, with the ability to reach more than just our personal acquaintances, it is our duty to use that power right, and doing some good in the world is what we see as right. We've worked with organizations in the past to put on benefit shows, and the current song up was recorded in an effort to raise some money to help with the situation in Darfur.

Salvador Dali said that the artist isn't one who is inspired, he is one who can inspire others. Hopefully we can live up to that statement and inspire some of you to take action on the issues you care about. The following is a list of organizations and resources we have worked with and like to support in every way we can. Check them out for yourself to see what you can do to provide for a positive change in the world. We're all in this together.
